A glossary is a collection of words with special translations or definitions, and you can create your own in a simple spreadsheet.<\/p>\r\nThere are two kinds that you can use with Gengo:\r\n<h3>Bilingual glossaries<\/h3>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bilingual glossaries are one-to-one (word in one language alongside word in another). You can either <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/drive\/answer\/2494886?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=2816927\">link to these glossaries<\/a> in your job\u2019s comments section using a tool like Google Docs or use <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gengo.com\/gengo-term-glossary\/\">Gengo\u2019s Term Glossary tool<\/a>, which automatically replaces text for you.<\/p>\r\n<em>Example<\/em>: In Japanese, Gengo is not rendered in kana: <em>Gengo<\/em> in English is still written <em>Gengo<\/em> in Japanese, not \u30b2\u30f3\u30b4, \u3052\u3093\u3054 or another variant. You can note this in a bilingual glossary.\r\n<h3>Definition glossaries<\/h3>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Definition glossaries help define uncommon words or jargon. These glossaries are incompatible with our Term Glossary tool, but equally useful for ensuring translation accuracy. You must <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/drive\/answer\/2494886?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=2816927\">link to these glossaries<\/a> in individual job comments sections.<\/p>\r\n<em>Example<\/em>: a blog post full of technical terms might need clarification for accurate translation, i.e. <em>In this context, a bug is a computer error, not an insect.<\/em>\r\n<h3>Common traps<\/h3>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For both kinds of glossaries, it\u2019s important to choose your terms wisely:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Watch out for homonyms (words with the same spelling but different meanings), particularly when using Gengo\u2019s Term Glossary tool. These can slow down translators or make texts incomprehensible.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>For the same reason, be careful with words that can occupy different parts of speech. For example, \u201clock\u201d can be both a noun and verb in English, but multiple words in a language like Japanese.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Don\u2019t make the common mistake of choosing only frequent terms.
