I’m also planning to study Esperanto just for the sake of linguistic passion. Language reflects the worldview of the nation where it is spoken. The view from Artem’s home<\/em><\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nOn a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy being a translator and why?<\/strong>\r\n\r\n10\/10. The most important thing in life for me is freedom. As a freelance translator, I\u2019m completely free to choose what kind of texts to translate, where, and when to do it, with respect to the deadline, of course. I can also potentially communicate with 1.5 billion of people with no language barrier!\r\n\r\nHow has translating for Gengo impacted your life?<\/strong>\r\n\r\nTranslating with little context is a hard task. Gengo has taught me not to be afraid of such translation requests and find the right meaning in a few words.\r\n\r\n

He prefers working in a quiet and well-lit library<\/em><\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nWhen you were growing up, what did you aspire to become?<\/strong>\r\n\r\nUntil the age of 14, I wanted to become a veterinarian, but then learning English entered the picture. I loved the language and plunged into learning it headlong.\r\n\r\nWhat quote do you live by?<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\u201cDon’t be afraid to do something you don’t know. Otherwise, you will never learn anything\u201d by Vladimir Levi.\r\n\r\nName three of your favorite translation \/ language learning tools.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nSmartCAT<\/a>, a free internet-based CAT tool. I also use Quizlet<\/a> to learn new words. I would recommend XMind<\/a> for studying new topics. Creating mindmaps is wonderful when it comes to learning new materials.\r\n\r\nRecommend three of your favorite language-related books\/films.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nFor Russian translators, I recommend the books, \u201c\u0411\u043e\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u0435 \u0432\u043e\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0441\u044b \u0440\u043e\u0434\u043d\u043e\u0439 \u0433\u0440\u0430\u043c\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/em>\u201d by Elena Marinova and \u201cWhere Russians Go Wrong in Spoken English<\/em>\u201d by Lynn Visson. For those who ask me about my favorite books, I always mention, \u201cThe Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything<\/em>\u201d by Sir Ken Robinson. It\u2019s not language-related but it\u2019s life-changing.\r\n\r\n
